What the app does on the network
The Video Forge desktop app makes one kind of
network call: a periodic license check against our server at
video-forge.barq.dev. The request sends only your
license key, an opaque device ID (16 random hex characters
generated at install time), an optional friendly device name (e.g.
"Hammad's MacBook"), and the OS string (macOS or Windows). The
server responds with a signed token that lets the app stay
unlocked offline for 30 days. Your videos, file names, paths, and
conversion results never reach us.
What we store
- The email address you provided at checkout (Stripe).
- Your license key, the device IDs that have activated it, and when each device was last seen.
- The Stripe checkout session ID and customer ID for bookkeeping and refunds.
We do not store conversion logs, file names, IP-address-keyed analytics, crash dumps, browser fingerprints, or third-party advertising identifiers.
Payment data
Card numbers and billing details are handled exclusively by Stripe. We never see them. Stripe's privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy.
Transactional email (welcome, license recovery) is sent through Brevo on our behalf. We send only the email address and the license key. We do not send marketing email without explicit opt-in, and we don't have an opt-in list yet.
Cookies / website tracking
This website (video-forge.barq.dev) does not set tracking cookies and does not run third-party analytics. Server access logs are kept for 30 days for security/debug purposes and contain IP addresses + URL paths. They are not joined to license data.
Your rights
You can:
- Request a copy of your license record (email + device list).
- Request deletion of your license record. We anonymise the email and revoke the license; existing local installs drop to the free tier on their next license check.
- Request a refund within 30 days — see refund policy.

Children
Video Forge is not designed for or directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from them.

We post substantive changes here. The "last updated" date at the top is the source of truth.
